Cingular just slashed the price of the Motorola ROKR by 40% and several leading cell phone dealers like AmericanCell and YouNeverCall now have the Motorola phone available for free with the purchase of a new Cingular plan.

Until now the Motorola Rokr is the only cell phone around that plays tunes from the iTunes Music Store. Another new addition to the ever increasing Motorola Razr family is new Razr VC which operates on networks of CDMA standard wireless EVDO. Christmas holiday season shopping has now been enhanced with the inclusion of the Razr V3i which sports a 1.23-megapixel digital camera with 8x digital zoom, video capture and a full-screen viewfinder.

Additional features include a hot plugging memory card, a display with sixty-five K color support and built-in Bluetooth. For the late summer-early fall season Motorola earned a profit of $1.75 billion on revenue of $9.42 billion. Motorola stated that its monetary gains for this period were all due to the tremendous success of the Motorola Razr v3. Having a web directory is becoming increasingly popular these days. It can bring many benefits such as delivering an increased amount of new visitors and providing a steady income. Google, Yahoo and MSN contribute heavily to its algorithm. Many webmasters are attracted by the fact that they can get traffic from such directories and would pay a small fee or put a reciprocal link to get their website listed in these directories. These benefits will ultimately improve the promotion of the website.

Webmasters are also very interested with inbound links for improving their PR (Page Rank) with Google. A good PR gives better position in Google’s search engine results. In theory the more quality inbound links you get, the higher your PR will go. Directories give a good solution for all webmasters. They also prove to be a good addition to existing web sites.

We can differentiate 3 types of directories: free, reciprocal-link and Paid for Inclusion directories:

1) Free directories are by far the most interesting for webmasters as they can give a high PR without having to spend a penny. Local Business Directory Websites; Can We Do Them Better?

On the Internet we see many local business directory websites out there, some are good, some are bad, but the concept makes sense. Can we make these systems better, so they are more accurate, timely and are easily accessed with low bandwidth wireless handheld devices?

Recently I wrote an article and submitted it to an online article submission website; I titled it "local Mexican Restaurant" my thought was, let’s see how well this is picked up in the search engines by Internet surfers. My experiment was done to prove my theory of where wireless devices are headed because of the new GPS systems now have voice activated systems and you say: "nearest fast station" "nearest Starbucks" "Local Mexican restaurant." My thoughts are in studying the CES 2006 Show in Las Vegas that indeed, this is one of the major pushes in electronic devices.

My thoughts are that people will be using these systems personal tech devices to find local businesses. And I believe that in the future all these systems will be linked. Your cell phone will ring a certain tone when you pass by a Starbucks or your favorite “Fruit Smoothie” establishment. When you car gets low on fuel it will start putting local gas stations of your favorite brand on your GPS display in your car.

If and when some smart entrepreneur figures this out and can build a website which can look as if it is designed for an at home Internet Surfer, but loads fast enough for PDA, Cell Phone and other wireless devices then they will have figured out the answer to what is needed for the Business Directory Website Genre. Think on this in 2006.
